Facebook Advanced AUTHOR-ity: Facebook Marketing Week in Review

Facebook statisticsA lot of interesting Facebook news came out this week, including some key Facebook statistics marketers and brands should know:

– A new study by Lab42 found that people prefer Facebook Pages to brand websites. Why? Of those who like brands on Facebook and find it a good place to interact with brands, 35% say they feel brands listen to them more on Facebook, and 75% feel more connected to the brand on Facebook. The biggest motivators for liking a brand on Facebook are: promotions/discounts (34%), free giveaways (21%), being a loyal customer (14%), brand trust (11%), and other (20%). – A study by Buddy Media reveals the best time of the week to post on Facebook depends on which industry you belong to. For “advertising and consulting,” weekend posts get 69% higher interaction. Thursday is the best day of the week for “clothing and fashion” brands to post, while Monday is the best for “general retail.” All industries will get 14% higher interaction by posting off-hours, between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. ["Sorry Marketers, You're Doing Facebook Wrong," Mashable]

– 80% of social network users prefer to connect with brands through Facebook. A whopping 77% of B2C companies and 43% of B2B companies acquired customers from Facebook. ["Facebook Marketing Statistics You Need To Know," Business2Community]

– Big brands haven’t found success with Facebook commerce, but small retailers have. Profits from Facebook stores are up 38% for the 180,000 small to midsize retailers utilizing Facebook commerce, says e-commerce company Ecwid. Facebook Commerce a hit for small retailers. Facebook generates more shopping traffic to retail websites than Pinterest and Twitter combined – a whopping 86%, in fact. Facebook users also tend to stick around longer, boasting nearly 2.5 times as many page views per session as Twitter (with Pinterest in between), and spend nearly twice as much. [See Infographic]
